ADOPT A SOUND ANTI-COUNTERFEITING STRATEGY

• Top management must be committed
  • Monitor at the highest level. – Others may have very narrowly focused responsibility.
  • Define clear lines of responsibility and accountability
• Trademark Registration
  • Your Trademark/ Logo/ Design symbolizes Brand and distinguishes goods or services from those of other enterprises. Get them registered with the Registrar of Trademarks
• Adopt Hologram, which is now well established as the best anti-counterfeiting security and authenticating seal
• Ensure that your Hologram Manufacturer uses the ‘Hologram Manufacturers Association of India’ - sponsored Hologram Roster, obtains the Artwork Clearance before proceeding with the production of your Hologram, and immediately thereafter register its sample so as to:-
  • Prevent or detect any inadvertent similarity or conflict with any existing image in the design process itself.
  • Establish a prima facie evidence and proof of its first creation and consequently the copyright protection against its any unauthorized or fraudulent copying, replication or reproduction or look-alike in future.
• Keep accurate records of the number of holograms received, issued or used or rejected during their application. Each hologram can now be overprinted (in indelible ink or by laser) with unique serial numbers. Holograms that are rejected or spoilt during handling or application should be properly accounted for and destroyed under authorised persons’ supervision.
• Communicate your hologram’s image and security features and the viewing instructions to your dealers/ retailers, and print them on the product package to assist the customers to identify your genuine product
• Keep surveillance on counterfeiters. - Your sales/field staff can help.
  • Investigate sources and distribution of fakes of your products
  • Gather and evaluate intelligence
  • Collect evidence to trace your counterfeit products back from point of sale to place of manufacture
  • Give clues to police so they can make arrests and seize counterfeit goods You may handover to a reliable (or HoMAI approved) Investigation Agency to assist prosecution of counterfeiters of your product or producers of shoddy look-alikes of your hologram itself

Enhanced security features and on-going fraud prevention efforts are the best way out in the fight against fraud and counterfeiting.
